This place has been delicious for as long as I can remember. And my memory tells me we used to drive 45 minutes to get there. Delicious chicken fried steak, try the squash--I don't know what they cook it in, but it's just a tad sweet and freakin Awesome! Haven't had anything here that's not delicious.

This place is everything you read about. Good old fashion country comfort food. CFS was amazing. CFC was awesome. The homemade rolls!!!! Shut up. Do yourself a favor and make the drive from where ever you are. This place is not convenient for me as I live downtown Houston but was worth it.

If you are in the area (even remotely), this is a must stop for true chicken fried steak the way it was meant to be enjoyed. Oh, and let's not forget about the homemade banana pudding with 'nilla wafers like grandma used to make. You just cannot get good down-home southern cooking like this in any chain restaurant.

Ate here for dinner tonight. Will not be back. My husbands birthday was today. He picked this as the restaurant he wanted to go to and it was so disappointing. The food was not what it was made out to be. We took all the good ratings as a sign that the food would be good and it really wasn't. The chicken fried steak was terrible. It was chewy and hard. The smothered "steak" was also terrible. I would not call it steak. I thought I had ordered an actual steak. They did explain that they make it like they make the chicken fried steak by grinding it up but it literally tasted just like hamburger meat. The rolls were stale. The only two things that were good were the marinara sticks and the ceaser salad. They then double charged us. The first one wasn't even for the same amount as our bill. The explanation was that "something went wrong" whatever that means. Something must've went very wrong because that wasn't even the correct amount it was way more. They did correct it but now we have to watch our bank account to make sure that charge doesn't end up going through. The manager did offer us two free adult entrees if we come back but I honestly don't think we will go back at this point.

What happened? I have been going here for over 20 years and today the food was absolutely terrible. The meatloaf had the consistency of canned pet food. The corn and green beans tasted like they were re-heated from yesterday or were possibly older than that. The beer was cold and our server was good. They comped one meal but the manager didn't even come to our table after we expressed our feelings about the food. Instead the manager had our server give us the excuse that the manager usually tastes the food but didn't this morning. Very disappointed with the cooks/management. Never going back.
